Wild Nature: An Adult Colouring Journal
Illustration & Print, 2016
For the final year project in a degree pursuing Creative Media Technology, I illustrated, designed and published an adult colouring book whilst conducting a report regarding how technology and 2D computer-aided design (CAD) affected and improved the illustration profession?".
The project was an investigation into how much CAD can enable individuals to illustrate and I tasked myself to create a full colouring book using only Adobe Illustrator and a mouse, rather than a drawing tablet. I received a 2:1 for the project and learnt a lot from the experience, in relation to publication design and illustration.

The target audience is young adults that enjoy travel, and mindfulness activities such as yoga, meditation, and as recent studies have shown, art therapy or creative therapy which can be experienced through colouring books.
Separate from the topic of the academic project, I created a focus group to find out about the enjoyment and benefits of using the colouring book. The results were highly positive, although perhaps the illustrations were too detailed for some people for a relaxing colouring experience but effective for others with their anxiety offering a positive distraction.
